Marilyn Williams

LICHEN and MOSS
My work for this exhibition was developed from studies and photographs produced for an exhibition at the South London Botanical Institute , looking particularly at moss and lichen. From this wealth of inspiration I have further expanded the theme in various ways using disperse dyes, heat transferred onto fabric and then embellished with hand and machine embroidery.

Reflections

Marilyn used photographs, taken on Hampstead Heath for her initial ideas . From these photos she has developed abstract images, dyeing, printing and manipulating fabric to give texture, pattern and movement.

Hand and machine embroidery were used for embellishment.
