Cherry’s work takes inspiration from art and craft history and the interplay between decoration and function.
She is interested in updating some of the traditional textile techniques and garment types and repurposing them for a contemporary audience.
She enjoys using a range of techniques, often including dye, applique, machine and hand embroidery in one piece.
Reconstituting scrap thread and fabric to recreate interesting surfaces is a particular interest.
