Pam Smyth

Pam’s work is informed by her concern for endangered animals, local and global. She enjoys the process of researching and designing her animal characters – drawing to give them personalities, translating their shapes to fabric, experimenting with different surface transformations, and adding texture with simple hand-stitches.During the 2020 UK Covid Lockdown, she continued her fascination with endangered birds, drawing and stitching a character each week.

She is a member of the Thirteen Textile Group, the Textile Studio Artists, S.E.W., and the New Embroidery Group. In normal times she leads creativity projects in schools for children, parents and teachers and takes school and interest groups around the art collections at the Keeping Gallery in Bromley, Kent.
